Main duties and responsibilities

  • To deliver a high level of care at all times
  • Provide person centred care to our residents in all aspects of their daily living to include washing, personal hygiene and dressing
  • To help residents with differing needs through the night to enable them to achieve a comfortable nights rest as per their care plan.
  • To answer the nurse bell promptly and assist where needed
  • To record any accidents in the accident book and report to the appropriate person.
  • To accompany doctors, nurses etc, where appropriate, to see each resident in private if they need to visit on night shift
  • To record a brief summary of each resident on a nightly basis, to enable all to achieve continuity of care
  • Be aware of Fire exits, fire precautions, evacuation procedures, location of firs aid box, important telephone numbers, call bell system, stair lift operation
  • Be aware of missing client procedures
  • To take accurate messages and record all such messages or enquiries or telephone calls on handover chart for the following day staff and Management. Ensure that all clinical records are kept secure and are updated at the appropriate times
  • To prepare veg if requested and clear away, leaving kitchen clean and tidy adhering to hygiene standards
  • Trained medication staff to give residents their prescribed medication at times indicated, and to sign Mar sheet correctly
  • To do any ironing
  • To undertake cleaning tasks of communal areas as per night staff folder
  • To be aware of Health & Safety and Food Hygiene regulations
  • To ensure the home maintains a healthy and safe environment
  •  Ensure that the needs of our residents are met, including social, emotional and physical needs both individually and as a group
  • Support and assist residents at meal times in accordance with their individual needs
  • Help to promote independence, choice and dignity in all of our residents
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with all residents, family, visitors and colleagues
